Privacy Policy

Price, one-year license term, repurchase, and refunds are in Terms of Sale (販売条件は こちら)。This Privacy Policy covers how information is handled.

This Privacy Policy describes how the Chrome extension On the Sofa for YouTube (“the Extension,” “we,” “us”) handles information. The Extension is an unofficial third-party tool for YouTube. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Google or YouTube.

1. Summary

• We do not collect, sell, or transmit your YouTube watch history or viewing activity to our servers.
• Settings and license data are stored locally in your browser (Chrome sync storage).
• Pro is sold as a one-year license. It does not auto-renew and does not charge a saved card later. Checkout, tax, invoices, and refunds are handled by Lemon Squeezy as Merchant of Record — not inside the Extension and not by Google. Commercial terms are in Terms of Sale.
• After one year the license expires unless you buy again (a new checkout and a new key). That repurchase is a new purchase, not a silent renewal.
• One-time (lifetime) Pro licenses purchased before the one-year plan remain valid with no additional charge.
• Pro license verification communicates only with Lemon Squeezy when you activate or periodically validate a license.
• We do not use in-extension analytics or advertising trackers.
• When you uninstall, Chrome may open an optional feedback form (Google Forms) in a new tab. Responding is voluntary and does not require additional Extension permissions.

2. Information stored on your device

The Extension uses Chrome’s storage API (sync storage) to save:

• Your preferences (e.g., whether the ghost guide is pinned, wheel direction)
• Pro slot configuration (zone types and step sizes)
• License key and license instance identifiers (Pro only)
• Timestamp of the last successful license validation
• A Pro / free flag derived from license validation

This data stays on your device and in your Chrome sync account if you use Chrome Sync. We do not operate a backend database that stores this information.

3. Information sent to third parties

3.1 Lemon Squeezy (Pro billing and licenses)

If you buy Pro, the Extension opens Lemon Squeezy’s hosted checkout in a new browser tab. The Extension never collects or stores payment card numbers, bank details, or billing addresses. Because Pro is a one-time yearly license, Lemon Squeezy does not keep charging a stored card for later years unless you complete checkout again.

At checkout, Lemon Squeezy (Merchant of Record) processes information needed for that sale — typically name, email, payment method, billing details, tax information, and the order record. Payment, tax, invoices, and refunds follow Lemon Squeezy’s Privacy Policy, Buyer Terms, and our Terms of Sale.

After purchase, Lemon Squeezy issues a license key. If you enter that key in the Extension, or if a key is already stored, the Extension sends requests to Lemon Squeezy’s License API (api.lemonsqueezy.com), including:

• License key
• License instance name and instance ID (to manage activation limits)

The Extension re-validates a stored key about once per day. When the one-year term ends, Lemon Squeezy marks the key expired and Pro features revert to the free tier. You can buy a new one-year license if you want Pro again. Lifetime keys issued before the one-year plan are not time-limited and stay valid unless disabled.

Deactivating a license in the Extension popup only removes Pro from that browser. It does not create or stop a recurring charge, because there is no auto-renewal.

3.2 YouTube (google.com / youtube.com)

The Extension injects a user interface on YouTube pages and reads the page DOM locally to position controls and detect the video player. No YouTube viewing data is sent to us. Your use of YouTube remains subject to Google’s Privacy Policy.

3.3 Uninstall feedback (optional)

If an uninstall survey URL is configured, Chrome opens that page in a new tab when you remove the Extension. The form is hosted by Google Forms. We do not receive YouTube viewing data through this form. Any answers you choose to submit are stored in Google’s systems (typically linked to a Google Sheet for the developer). You may close the tab without responding.

4. Permissions and why they are used

• storage — Save settings and license state
• alarms — Periodically re-validate Pro licenses (about once per day)
• youtube.com — Display ghost controls and guide on YouTube
• api.lemonsqueezy.com — Activate and validate Pro licenses

5. Data we do not collect

• YouTube watch history, search history, or YouTube subscriptions
• Payment card numbers or other payment credentials (these stay with Lemon Squeezy)
• Personally identifiable information beyond what you provide to Lemon Squeezy at checkout
• Precise geolocation
• Contents of messages or form fields outside the Extension popup (except voluntary uninstall survey responses you submit to Google Forms)

6. Children’s privacy

The Extension is not directed at children under 13 (or the applicable age in your region). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

7. Data retention and deletion

Data in Chrome storage remains until you uninstall the Extension, clear extension data in Chrome settings, or deactivate your license in the Extension popup. Uninstalling the Extension removes locally stored extension data from that browser profile.

Lemon Squeezy retains order and license records according to its own policies. How long a paid key stays valid, and how to buy another year, is described in Terms of Sale.

8. International users

Lemon Squeezy may process payment and license data in accordance with its own policies and applicable law (including tax). The Extension itself does not transfer your YouTube activity to our servers.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will be revised when changes are made. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

The developer, not Google, is the seller of Pro. Payment is processed by Lemon Squeezy.

Terms of Sale

These Terms of Sale describe the paid Pro plan. They sit alongside Lemon Squeezy’s Buyer Terms. If they conflict, the checkout screen and Lemon Squeezy’s terms control the payment itself. Data handling is in the Privacy Policy.

1. Seller

The seller of Pro is the Extension developer, not Google. Card payments, tax, invoices, and refunds are processed by Lemon Squeezy as Merchant of Record.

2. What you buy

Pro unlocks extra ghost-control slots and full slot customization. The free tier remains usable without payment. The current price and currency are shown on the Lemon Squeezy checkout page before you pay. Tax may be added depending on your location.

3. One-year license (no auto-renewal)

• Each paid purchase grants a Pro license for about one year from the purchase date (the exact end date is set by Lemon Squeezy on that license key).
• This is a one-time payment. It does not renew automatically and does not charge you again unless you complete a new checkout.
• After payment, Lemon Squeezy emails a license key. Enter it in the Extension popup to activate Pro.
• When the year ends, the key expires and Pro reverts to the free tier. To continue Pro, buy a new one-year license and enter the new key. That is a new contract, not a continuation charge.

4. Ending use

• There is no subscription to cancel. No further charge is scheduled after you pay once.
• Deactivate license in the Extension only removes Pro on that browser.
• Uninstalling the Extension removes local settings. It does not create a future charge.
• Unused days in the one-year term are not usually refunded if you stop using Pro early.

5. Refunds

Pro is a digital license. Refunds are decided case by case by the seller and/or Lemon Squeezy. After a key has been issued and used, a refund is usually not available. Lemon Squeezy may still issue a refund at its discretion (often within 60 days of a charge).

To request a refund, use the support contact on the Chrome Web Store listing or reply from your Lemon Squeezy receipt. Include the order number and the email used at checkout.

6. Existing lifetime licenses

One-time Pro licenses purchased before the one-year plan stay valid with no extra charge. They do not expire after a year and are not asked to repurchase.
